Big Shot Card Project

                                                                                  Several weeks ago I was playing with a couple of the new Big Shot items I received.  I already showed you the Texturz plates which was used on the Green Galore Cardstock here & also on white cardstock by inking up the plate before putting it through the Big Shot.  We also have this wonderful embosslit die that I used for the flowers.  This die not only embosses the flower but also cuts it.  This embosslit is called "Simple Flower". 

This is the card I came up with to make for part of my swaps for the Stampin' Up! Regional I am going to next week.  Yes, as a demonstrator we can attend not only Convention which is several days but also Regionals which is a 1 day event.  They try to hold these around the country in places they don't normally have Conventions or Leadership to give some a better chance to attend. 

My downline, Lisa & I will be driving up to meet 2 more demonstrators in Clear Lake & drive in to Minneapolis together.  One of the other demonstrators is my friend Diane Workman from Colfax, IA.  Diane & I meet online 3 or so years ago.  She is one of the girls I have roomed with.  This is another of the reasons it is so great to be a demonstrator.  If you want to hear more reasons you might want to be a demonstator, please give me a call 319-610-1114 or email me at MSCH1L@mchsi.com.  I would love to share more with you.

Kelli had been working on a Keepsake Dedication gift for her granddaughter & agreed to share it with all of us here.

Kelli started this project with 2 pieces of 4x4 chipboard that she covered with our beautiful Stampin Up Bella Rosa Designer Paper. She used 3 different designs of this paper throughout her project.  She even cut out a several flowers from this paper & used dazzling diamond glitter on them.  Two little rosebuds are used on the front cover, another rose bud between the feel & the larger flower is attached over the picture.  Her granddaughters actual feet were used for this project.  She used versamark on them & stamped them on cardstock & white embossed them.  The tag sticking out on the left hand side of the picture actually hides behind the picture but a special message will be written on it.  This piece was sponged & then a tab with grosgrain ribbon & rhinestone brad were attached to pull it out.  Over the feet she took the scallop punch & poked a hole in each scallop.  After she layered the words on this piece she took the crop a dile to go through all the layers & attached a jumbo eyelet.  The pink grosgrain ribbon was brought around the chipboard piece & brought up through the jumbo eyelet & tied.  The crop a dile was also used to make the holes in the chipboard to attach the 2 chipboard pieces together using the green grosgrain ribbon.  The little pink flowers used were made with the Trio flower punch.

Get Well / Sympathy Stamp a Stack Cards

 

Next week is my Get Well/ Sympathy Stamp a Stack at My Stamping Place in Waterloo, IA.  The top 2 cards are Sympathy & the bottom 2 are Get Well.  You will stamp 3 of each of the 4 cards.  These cards could be changed by using different words to make them be a different type of card if you wish.  You will have the option to change the words on some or all of your cards.  I think the pink card would be wonderful for an Easter, Baptism, Dedication or First Communion card. 

You will be using the Big Shot with a Texturz Plate & embosslit, using punches, markers, ribbon, sponging, ribbon holder, brad, 1/2 pearl from the Pretties Kit. 

The cost is $20.00 for 12 cards with envelopes, a snack & a night of fun with chances to win a prize.  You just need to bring adhesive & your drink of choice if you want anything.

How much would you pay for the 12 cards at a store?  With the average price of a nice card at the store being even just $3.00 that would come to $36.00.  I know people have paid more than that for a card before though.  I had paid more than that 7 years ago prior to learning to stamp.  Who wouldn't want to save $16.00 plus?

Big Shot Bag w/Scallops die idea

 

Recently this die was in one of my new orders & I just got around to playing with it.  This die cuts out your cardstock of Designer Paper into 3 pieces.  The longest piece makes the front, bottom, back & the scallop overlay all together.  Then then are the 2 side pieces.  All 3 pieces are then scored for you.  You then attached Sticky Strip tape on the flaps of the side pieces & attach to the main piece.  The front scallop was actually the brown polka dot from the Bella Rosa Designer Series paper.  I took & cut just the scallop top on the die & attached this over the brown piece.  This flowered design is what is inside the bag.  I then was trying to figure out how I was going to decorate & close my bag.  My friend Linda Kjeld suggested I use buttons & string.  I attached the Riding Hood red buttons from the Button Bouquet  pack using 1/2 a large glue dot.  I probably should have used Stampin Dimensionals as if you pull it to tight the hemp twine sticks a little to the glue dots.  Live & learn. 

I think this would be really cute for a wedding favor.  For this I would use Window Sheets after stamping on them with White Stazon.  I would then put a little piece of designer paper that matches the wedding color on the scallop flap.  Maybe I will make one of these in the future & put this on my website.  I think they would be really cute for a small birthday present, a little candy or a gift card.  How about a rosary for a First Communion?  What would you use this for?  Leave your comments below. 

Guest Artist- Sue Hoven

Last week at open stamping I mentioned I needed to come up with one more sympathy card yet for my Stamp a Stack later this month.  Sue said she had made one & would be happy to share with me.   Below is her card.  It is a beautiful sympathy card & I will be using her idea although do need to change it up just a bit to make the coloring of the tree a little easier.  Thank you Sue!

 

Sue used my new stamp set called Thoughts & Prayers for the tree & the words.  She also used the following:

Rock Star Award for my daytime job.

 

My department at my daytime job (GMAC Mortgage, Waterloo, IA) had a meeting a few weeks back & our supervisor wanted us to come up with an award for our department.  It was decided it would be called the "Rock Star" award.  Someone brought in the above rock for me to decorate.  I originally had Welcome & flowers all over it but they were starting to wear off.  I took sandpaper to it for awhile but then took it home to Frank, my husband to see if he could get it off quicker.  The rock got a bit scratched up but it still worked.  My supervisor loved it & that is what mattered. 

I took chipboard & used the Serif Essentials Alphabet with the Big Shot to spell out rock.  The star was from the On Board Essential chipboard pack.  I then used Crystal Effects along with some red, blue & silver mini stars from an older retired glitter pack Stampin' Up! used to sell.  I attached the pieces using Stampin Up dimensionals & some more Crystal Effects.  This is not something you could use outside but would make a great paperweight. 

My Technique Club Sample Share

 I do Technique Clubs that meets every other month to learn 1 or 2 techniques. I have these in Waterloo & West Des Moines, IA. The club members make 2 cards using those techniques along with a 6x6 scrapbook page with the technique sample & instructions on it.  This assists them to use these techniques later when they are stamping on their own.  I am sharing the 2 cards we did this month:  Brayered Sky and Blurred Vision Watercoloring. 

Brayered Sky

This card was partially cased.  I used an old faithful Stampin Up stamp set called "Lovely as a Tree".  I also used the Big Shot along with a Texturz Plate for the Night of Navy cardstock.  This also used the brayer, a Stampin sponge, Word Window punch & brads. 

Blurred Vision Watercoloring

This card used a beautiful Stampin Up set called Baroque Motifs.  Other supplies uses are: Aqua painter, Boho Blossoms punch, white flower from the Pretties kit & green rhinestone brad.

                                          

The Blog Candy Winner is announced!

I have passed the 4000 hits on my blog.  In fact, I have even passed 4100 hits as of right now.  The winner of my first blog candy is "Jen Snell".  She will receive the cardstock, eyelets & Rub-ons pictured a couple days ago.  I want to thank everyone who took the time to post.  I hope you will all continue to post if you see something you really like or even something you have a question about.  I am sure there will be more blog candy in the future also.  Have a great week, Michele

Decor Element basement wall finished!

So I started working on putting up these circles last week & most days just did a few of them.  Yesterday & today I finished it off.  This set is called Spot On II.  It consisted of 24 circles, 8 of each color: Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery & Chocolate Chip.  I cut up some of the double circles to spread it out a little further.  I also had purchased a package of Decor Elements Sheets in Chocolate Chip.  I used the Big Shot along with the Bigz Clear Circle Die & the Originals Circles #2 Die to cut additonal Chocolate Chip circles to spread through out the design.  

As previously stated, Stampin' Up! does not recommend you place these on rough walls.  They seem to have worked well but I have a very sore finger as I did have to rub each one with my finger.  The tool you would normally use does not work as well for these.  At convention I had tried one & it works very well on a smooth surface.  It is very quick & easy.  This did take a little longer & took a little more care.  But isn't it just beautiful?  Here is one more picture at a different angle.
