Twick or Tweet Treat received at my day job last Friday in Waterloo, IA.
Jackie gave all of us this very cute treat using the Twick or Tweet stamp set from the Holiday Mini catalog. I am not sure where the bat stamp is from & the ribbon is not Stampin' Up! but isn't it adorable?

A co-worker, Heather is adopting a young girl & boy & we are having a surprise shower for her tomorrow. I decided to do something special for her so I pulled out some retired designer paper & did a little brag book for her to put pictures in. I used the Sizzix Big Shot with my Top Note die which I seem to use all the time. I did a little stamping on some of the pages but left a few blank as I was not sure what pictures she will want to put into it. I will have her stop over after work one day if she wants to stamp the rest of them. What a quick & easy little project, don't you think?

This weekend I played with my Sizzix Big Shot & a die I had not used yet called Box #2. I had seen a couple samples of a box designed like this & wanted to try it. It uses 2 of the boxes cut & put back to back. I thought the To the Nines Specialty Designers Paper would work wonderful as it is heavier than our normal designer paper. When I went to find the instructions I found the demonstrator who had the instructions used the same paper. I decided to copy the rest of her box also except I used the designer paper to do the oval scallop on the front & I believe she used regular cardstock. It is the perfect size to put a small gift or treat for someone. This also uses the Oval All stamp set & the Large Oval & Wide Oval punches.
I promise this will be my last dress cards at least for awhile. I had more nieces & a nephew here from Keswick, IA this weekend who of course wanted to stamp. The girls just loved the dress cards so I got out some of my retired Stampin Up Designer Paper & made these cards. There was one more niece who didn't happen to be there when I took pictures.
I also had a little one on one time with Jenna, my niece on the left above. I assisted her in making the little Photo book below. The Sizzix Big Shot with the Top Note die was used on Mat board laying around for the cover & Stampin Up cardstock in a few different colors were used for several pages inside. We used the Wanted stamp set & some retired designer paper. We then used the Crop A Dile to make the hole through all the pieces & ties them together with a matching grosgrain ribbon. I knew there was some reason I was hoarding all the designer paper.
If you are needing a quick & cute gift for someone this is your gift. I made one of these for each of my roommates in Minneapolis at the beginning of April. This project used the Big Shot & the Matchbox die from the Occasions Mini Catalog currently available. One box fits 4 Hershey Nuggets perfectly. I had Nuggets in one drawer. Each Nugget was decorated with a piece of designer series paper from the same package I used to wrap the 3 drawers. It is called Sweet Always. Another drawer had a small pad of post its & the last had a Strawberry Chapstick in it. You don't have to do the 3 drawers though. You can make just one of the drawers & decorated it. It would be a wonderful little gift or favor for a birthday, wedding, baby shower or just because. You can stamp them before you put them together, or wheel them or even cut them out of designer paper. I have even seen some really cute single boxes where the top is made out of window sheets so it is clear.
Have I given you any ideas? This is going to be one of the projects done at my basket & boxes class May 28th although different colors & designer paper will be used. More to come on this later this week.
My department at my daytime job (GMAC Mortgage, Waterloo, IA) had a meeting a few weeks back & our supervisor wanted us to come up with an award for our department. It was decided it would be called the "Rock Star" award. Someone brought in the above rock for me to decorate. I originally had Welcome & flowers all over it but they were starting to wear off. I took sandpaper to it for awhile but then took it home to Frank, my husband to see if he could get it off quicker. The rock got a bit scratched up but it still worked. My supervisor loved it & that is what mattered.
I took chipboard & used the Serif Essentials Alphabet with the Big Shot to spell out rock. The star was from the On Board Essential chipboard pack. I then used Crystal Effects along with some red, blue & silver mini stars from an older retired glitter pack Stampin' Up! used to sell. I attached the pieces using Stampin Up dimensionals & some more Crystal Effects. This is not something you could use outside but would make a great paperweight.
One day my mom & I were doing some errands around in Waterloo & Cedar Falls, IA. We stopped in one of those Dollar stores. I believe it was Dollar General but not sure of the name. I found these cute little tins. They actually have a clear plastic piece that sits in the bottom to put a gift card in it. I dressed this up for a special ordered Gift Certificate so I had to take out the plastic piece.
I used some retired designer paper & gingham ribbon but used several current punches on the belly band to go around the tin. Adorable, isn't it?
