I was approached a couple months ago by a friend to see if I would want to come up with 6 projects to be done in one afternoon following the Girl Scout manual. The goal would be for them to earn a badge. One night at opening stamping a couple of my friends (thanks Linda & Sandy) assisted me in coming up with these projects.
One week ago I stamped with the 7 girl scouts to do 6 projects & the mission was accomplished. It only took the girls 2 hours. Good job girls. I think they really enjoyed themselves.
The first project was to use an object from nature to ink & stamp. I picked out leaves that had fallen in my mothers yard & kept them in the refrigerator with a moist paper towel around them in a zip top bag. We brayed So Saffron ink over the leaf & layed it ink side down on white cardstock. We then brayered over it with a Spectrum pad. Another project was to take one of the prints made & make it into something else so we took this paper & added some ribbon & cardstock to make it into a card.
We made a bookmark that I somehow misplaced so it is not in the picture. We did dry embossing of flowers & hearts on some naturals cardstock to put on a purple base. We then punched a hole in the top & attached a ribbon on the top.
Stencils were another project. We made our own stencils from circle punches & then placed them on Night of Navy cardstock & sponged Craft Yo Yo Yellow for the moon & Whisper White for the snowman. We took the Whisper White stamp pad around on the edges of the Navy cardstock to make it look like a blizzard & then stamped the small snowflakes around on the cardstock. This was attached to Whisper White cardstock to make a card.
The most challenging project was the wall hanging. There are so many possiblities with these. I tried to keep it very simple for the girls by having them just stamp 3 different leaves in 3 different colors each on a different chipboard coaster. They sponged the same color around the edges of the chipboard. We used the Crop-a-dile to put holes in the chipboard & then used grosgrain ribbon and Sticky Strip to attach the pieces together.
The last project was a very simple Christmas card to be used for a service project I believe. I used this same card for my make & take at my fall expo events this year as it had to be something quick & easy. They used the background Tres Chic with Lavendar Lace ink on Lavendar Lace cardstock & then used Elegant Eggplant over it for the words "Peaceful Wishes" & the branch.
