Chipboard Coaster Picture Frame

One of the projects we made Saturday at my Hostess Appreciation was a little picture frame with white 4x4 inch chipboard coasters.  Here are a couple pictures:

My project I had planned for my Hostess Appreciation was suppose to arrive earlier in the week but didn't so the night before I had to come up with a new project.  I decided what I wanted to do & asked one of my very talented club members (Traci) from Missouri to assist me.  She made a little picture frame using some retired designer paper I had. 

   

As Traci used designer paper I decided to make a sample just with stamping.  I started by making a background using the Craft (Pigment) Stampin' Spot all over both sides of the coasters.  I then stamped flowers & a saying "Your friendship makes my heart Happy".  This was from one of last years Sale-A-Bration stamp sets.  I used Classic ink for this. 

We both then used the Crop-A-Dile to put 3 holes in the chipboard coasters & tied the 2 together with ribbon.

What a Party!

I have not had much time the last couple weeks but things should slow down just a little bit now.  I have been working very hard on my 2nd Annual Hostess Appreciation Event yesterday.  Wow! 

Here is a list of what all happened:  

• Everyone arrived to find a little gift setting at the table for them.  They were handed another little gift pouch that they could not open.

• We started with an Ice breaker left right game.  They passed the little pouch back & forth as I read a little story about Susie Wright & Sally Left-y.  When it was over they found a little # that was theirs as I let them pick out older retired catalogs and inspiration sheets for project ideas.  They also were able to pick a little item out of my gift basket. 

       

• We ate a delicious meal of lasagna made by my customer, Maria who was unable to attend.  Maria: too bad you couldn't be there to hear all the compliments.  We also had veggies, Olive Garden bread sticks & cheesecake.  My niece & hostess Stacie made the cheescake from scratch.  The choices were chocolate chip, plain, cherry or strawberry topped.  

  

• Right after we ate we played a game with 2 lucky winners.  Has everyone heard of Deal or No Deal?  I changed it up a bit & we played Stamp or No Stamp.  Those chosen had a chance to win from $0.04 to $100.00 of some of my extra retired merchandise I had.  I had marked these items with prices prior to the event.  I drew a name of all those who attended.  The first winner was Natalie. She picked a numbered Stampin" Up! box for herself that we pulled from the table of 20 boxes.  She had to pick so many boxes that we opened up for her to see what amounts were left, the banker would then call me by cell phone to make an offer.  We had her bring up 3 friends to support & help her.  I think she made some new friends today.  We continued until she decided to take the offer of $35.00 which was a great deal for her as the box she picked was only $25.00. The next name drawn was Staci.  She also brought up 3 supporters.  One of her supporters decided to share a story about Staci even though she had actually never meet her.  The crowd really got into it & enjoyed it cheering both girls on.  What did Staci win?  She took the bankers offer of $25.00 & it was wonderful that she did as otherwise she would have won only $0.50.  Here are a few pictures. 

       

         

• Next I made everyone mix up & get at tables with people they did not know.  They had to come up with a card together.  Everyone had to help with a part of it.  I had a pile of cardstock pieces that I had started projects & they didn't work out for what I was wanting & had never used.  They had to use something off this pile for their card.  They also had to use a piece of ribbon on the card but no more than 3 inches could be used.  Oh, they only had 15 minutes to do this.  Everyone won something depending on what place their team ended up. We thought it was really interesting that all the cards used shades of blue.

             

• There were 2 stamping projects everyone got to make.  One was the little gift pouch that I gave them so they could make them themselves for their friends & family.  The other was a little picture frame using 2 coaster chipboard pieces they could either stamp or decorate with designer paper to add a picture to later.  They tied the 2 chipboard pieces together with ribbon.  I will try to add some pictures of these later. 
• We then ran out of time although I still had the game Stamp (just like Bingo) to play.  Some were able to stay longer & did play.  They made their own card using a list of Stampin' Up! merchandise & would mark their card as I called off those items. 

I think everyone had a wonderful time by looking at the pictures.  A special thanks to my niece Stacie who helped me Friday & Saturday to pull off this fun day.  She helped me by doing the running, set up, serving & even did the hard job of playing banker for our game.  My nephew Travis who helped by cleaning the basement & also helping serve.  Also to Maria for her lasagna.  To my nieces Bridget, Barb & Jennifer who helped keep things moving, taking pictures, with the games etc.  To my mother for letting me use her house for all my events.  To my hostessess for coming to share this day with me.  Thank you, thank you!

Calling all Hostesses'!

All hostesses' have a few more days to sign up for my 2nd annual Hostess Appreciation Event.  If you did not get my email invitation please let me know & I will resend it to you.  I need all RSVP's by Saturday, November 29th if you want to come join the fun.  This is being held in Waterloo, IA.  Your meal will be homemade Italian Lasagna (both vegetarian & meat), Olive Garden garlic bread sticks, a dessert & drink.  Everyone will go home with at least one gift & some will go home with more than one.  I have a couple door prizes & several fun games where you can win prizes.  Of course we will do some stamping.  Don't miss out!

We had roast beef with carrots, potatoes & gravy.  Mom made homemade dinner rolls and a dessert.  I even had servers to take care of the food & drinks for my hostesses'.

Yes, I made them crimp and open stamp pads.

 

And tie ribbons & put the cards together.  Both groups did a wonderful job. 

What do you need to do to join in the fun?  Just host a workshop for you and your friends.  It can be an actual party at your house or my stamping place or just have a catalog party.  Your order(s) just need to total at least $150.00 to qualify as a workshop.  This will ensure you can join us next year.
